about
So this is one that I started writing back in February while I was still in a cast. I've been listening to a lot of Bowling For Soup in the last few months and I came to a realization that there are no Bowling For Soup parodies in the fandom. So naturally I just had to write one! This being a parody of their song "Ohio (Come Back To Texas)" off of the same album as their breakout song, "1985".
Something I also realized while writing this song was that there have been a number of songs from Big Mac's point of view that are really emotional, but not many that have a bit of a sense of humor. So combine that with Bowling For Soup and it was just a perfect storm xD
And as I mentioned before, I wrote this while I was still in a cast, so I needed a hand with the instrumental for this song. So asked my friends EVBP and Djohn Mema to help me out!
I met EVBP at Whinny City last year and got to know him better at Ciderfest, and he's a pretty awesome dude and he did a great job with the guitars and bass for this song! You should support his stuff!
And HIS NAME IS DJOHN MEMA!!!! Sorry, low hanging fruit :P It's usually a real pain to have to make drum tracks myself, so when Djohn asked to play drums, there was no way I was gonna pass him up! Even better, he's a fan of Bowling For Soup too! So he added his own little double bass flare to it and made it awesome! Check his stuff out too! Seriously!
And finally, I kinda hijacked the cover art for this song from a guy on DA named Huussii! This was a great piece of art and it worked really well for this song! Go check out the rest of his art and show him some support!
Well, guess that just about wraps it up for this one. Feel free to let me know what you thought. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Like, subscribe, stick around and jam out! I'll see y'all in the next one! Take care :)
lyrics
She said she needed a change
To travel out of range
So then she packed up all her stuff
And jumped on the next bus
That left home at 8
There's nothing wrong with Manehattan
Except for stuck up rich pones
I mean I get that they're family
But I wouldn't mind
If they just left us alone
So when you're done, making memories
And when you're through, with city ponies
You know that the old farm will be right here waiting for you
Sweet Apple Acres
Just don't feel the same
Since you went away
I hope you'll come back later
Once you find out you don't
Wanna leave this place
Your seat's still here by the fireplace
And your bed is still neatly made
'Sides the small portion food tastes crappy there anyway
This place just isn't the same
Can't find the words to explain
Man, I can't help but remember
All the random adventures
We had back in the day
I hope you'll come back home
Cause that's not where you belong
I know you probably feel homesick
But don't feel pathetic
Just keep standing strong
Winona wants you back
Moo-riela wants you back
Bloomberg wants you back
And the fruit bats want you back
Applebloom wants you back
And Granny wants you back
I don't think I can take it
So please make sure you make it
On the next train home tonight
